An enchanting fairy tale of everlasting love, Cinderella intertwines comedy and drama with color and grace in this rags-to-riches story proving the power of dreams. Set to the lyrical and jubilant score by Prokofiev, this time-honored ballet will delight audiences of all ages with its magic, beauty and romance.

Romeo & Juliet

This retelling of Shakespeare's classic premiered at the Aspen Summer Festival in 1986 with choreographer Johan Renvall in the role of Mercutio and a cast of dancers from ABT. Said one critic, "Mr. Renvall found the essence of the well-known Prokofiev score and [turned] Shakespeare's tragedy into a striking one-act classic." The Star-Ledger applauded it as "A ballet with deft drama and telling movement." Another wrote simply, "A gem."

To round out the evening, the company will perform a collection of popular selections from New Jersey Ballet's extensive repertory.

Sleeping Beauty

This beautiful ballet has been an enduring favorite with adults and children for more than a hundred years. NJ Ballet fills the stage with familiar characters: Princess Aurora, the handsome Prince, the good Lilac Fairy, the wicked fairy Carabosse, Puss in Boots, Red Riding Hood, the Blue Bird and the Enchanted Princess. With its colorful costumes and scenery, and Tchaikovsky's soaring score, Sleeping Beauty is a splendid introduction to dance theatre for young children and grand entertainment for the whole family. It is performed with original "storyteller narration" so even the littlest theater-goer can keep up with ease.

Kean University Dance Ensemble Retrospective Dances with The Well Performance Project

Kean University Dance Ensemble (KUDE) is the university's student dance company showcasing entertaining, theatrically diverse, high-spirited works choreographed and performed by Kean University dance faculty, guest artists, and Artistic Director Luis Martinez. This year's production will highlight some of Mr. Martinez's most memorable works created over the past 25 years at Kean as well as new works encompassing a broad range of genres from contemporary modern to jazz, classical, urban and ethnic dance forms. Works by guest company THe Well Performance Project under the Creative Direction of Dawud D.H. Jackson will also be featured. A celebration of dance for all.
